PROTOTYPE OF A DIGITAL TESTER FOR VALIDATION OF MEMBRANE KEYBOARDS

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project arose in collaboration with Layme, a company specialising in the manufacture of customised keyboards, membrane and capacitive keyboards, with the aim of developing a new tester for the validation of its products in the production process.

The company currently has two testers: an old one, which works on an obsolete system (Windows XP) and whose operational continuity is uncertain, and a more recent one, whose functionality does not fully meet its needs, as it does not provide clear signals and does not allow independent testing of the different elements of the keyboard.

The purpose of the project is to design and develop a tester that replicates or improves the functionalities of the old model, optimising the validation process of the manufactured products. The aim is to increase the accuracy in the verification of the keyboards, allowing a more detailed evaluation of each component and improving the level of digitalisation in the company.

Methodology

A meeting is held with the company to agree on its requirements, propose a work plan, and launch its development with the following tasks: 1. Research and planning: study the technology and preliminary design of the prototype. 2. Prototype development: construction, testing, and adjustments. 3. Prototype implementation and validation: installations and configuration at the company. Final testing in a real environment.

Requirements from the company

Information of the quality control to be carried out on the different membrane cables, types of signals to be analyzed, and results to be obtained depending on the product.

Resources

Board design software and equipment for manufacturing various electronic components, soldering iron, signal control design software.

Results & Achievements

The company has acquired custom-made access equipment for the quality control of its products, designed and optimized according to its needs, achieving a substantial improvement in its control process, reducing errors and improving the company efficiency.
