Linköping University, through the Department of Management and Engineering (IEI), conducts cutting-edge research in electron beam-based 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing. This technology utilizes an electron beam to melt metal powder, enabling the creation of complex metal components with high precision and material efficiency.

The IMA 3DAM project is a collaboration between the Innovative Materials Arena (IMA), Linköping University, and several industry partners. The project’s aim is to advance the development and implementation of electron beam 3D printing within Swedish industry. By combining academic research with practical industrial applications, the project seeks to:

  – Optimize process parameters to improve quality and efficiency.
  – Develop new applications in sectors such as aerospace, space, and medical technology.
