PRODUCTION PROCESS OPTIMISATION IN A WORK TABLE

A work table for manual, visual quality inspection, followed by assembly, with an area of (10 x 4) m, is to be converted into an automated rewinding system with non-contact surface quality inspection, followed by assembly, on a floor area of (3 x 4) m.

Methodology

Clarify variances, define assembly interfaces and design image processing in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT). Conduct 3D design and integrate service providers into the design process. Develop design approval and set up a pilot scheme. Maintain the corresponding documentation in parallel.

Requirements from the company

The aim was to create a process optimisation that was both technically sound and economically viable, while also fully meeting occupational safety requirements.

Resources

Unfortunately, no financial resources could be made available to support the project financing of the partner within the framework of the LCAMP ADMA subproject. Therefore, the BUTZBACH company was only provided with advisory support and assistance in technical and economic matters.

Results & Achievements

Important interim results have already been achieved during the work carried out to date. The variance has been clarified, the relevant assembly interfaces have been defined, and a concept for image processing in the context of the Internet of Things (IoT) has been developed.

The project definition has been successfully completed. In addition, a potential image processing analysis was carried out. A network of relevant image processing system manufacturers was also established. Furthermore, a sub-project is currently being considered as part of a constructive student research project at DHBW Heidenheim together with BUTZBACH.
