LCAMP at the VET Summit 2025 in Bilbao

More than 300 participants from across Europe gathered in Bilbao from 8–10 April for the VET Summit 2025 – Keys to a Global, Digital, Inclusive, and Sustainable Future, a flagship event that showcased how vocational education and training (VET) can lead Europe through today’s most pressing challenges — from digitalisation to climate change and demographic shifts.

The event opened with the Tknika Open Days, offering an in-depth look at innovation in Basque VET. Tknika, the Basque Country’s leading applied research centre for VET, presented advancements in 3D printing, green technologies, cybersecurity, and more, setting the tone for three days of action-oriented exchange.

A VET System Designed for Transformation

On 9 April, the summit took centre stage at Bilbao’s iconic Guggenheim Museum. In her opening remarks, Begoña Pedrosa Lobato, Basque Minister of Education, emphasised the urgent need for VET systems to not only adapt to global change but actively lead transformation. She was followed by Esther Monterrubio, Spain’s General Secretary for Vocational Training, who underlined the relevance of Dual VET and Spain’s new legal framework in addressing labour market demands.

The summit’s central panel, A Global VET: Digitalisation, Sustainability, and Inclusion from International Networks, brought together representatives from across Europe and beyond to share how collaboration across borders is shaping the future of skills.

From Vision to Practice: LCAMP at the Dissemination day

The final day of the summit, held on 10 April, was entirely dedicated to Erasmus+ KA2 project dissemination, with a spotlight on collaboration, innovation, and best practices. This session was officially opened by Jon Labaka, Vice-Minister for VET in the Basque Government, alongside Inge Gorostiaga Luzarraga, Director for Digital Transformation and Advanced Learning.

One of the key projects featured during the dissemination day was LCAMP – Learner Centric Advanced Manufacturing Platform for Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs). Coordinated by the Basque Government, LCAMP was presented as a forward-thinking initiative supporting the transformation of advanced manufacturing education across Europe.

Notably, LCAMP-ers from Miguel Altuna — Unai and Liher — led the project roundtable discussion, exchanging ideas and experiences with participants who expressed strong interest in joining the LCAMP Alliance and contributing to its ecosystem of excellence.

The session provided an ideal moment to extend an invitation to the upcoming LCAMP Networking Camp, taking place from 13–15 May in Sweden, where stakeholders and newcomers alike will have the opportunity to engage, collaborate, and co-design the future of VET.

Building the Future of Skills Together

As the summit concluded, participants departed with a renewed sense of purpose and momentum. Across languages, institutions, and regions, the message was clear: strong, inclusive, and future-ready VET ecosystems are essential to building a resilient and sustainable Europe.

Through its leadership in the CoVE initiative and active participation in events like the VET Summit, LCAMP continues to pave the way toward a learner-centric, digitally driven, and innovation-powered future for vocational training in Europe.
