LCAMP at the Regional Stakeholders Event in Maribor

On December 16, 2024, the TŠC Maribor campus (Slovenia) hosted a dynamic business-to-academia event aimed at fostering collaboration among regional stakeholders. This gathering spotlighted the integration of Industry 4.0 principles within Slovenia’s mechanical engineering sector. Representatives from seven prominent Slovenian enterprises participated, sharing their journeys in adopting advanced technologies and integrating them into existing production processes.

“Meeting of Slovenian companies from Industry 4.0, presentation of the LCAMP project and discussion on support for advanced manufacturing centers of vocational excellence (CoVEs) and human resource development. The future is digital and green.”

A prominent theme across the presentations was the significant challenge of acquiring and retaining talent with the necessary skills to navigate and implement contemporary technological innovations. Companies emphasized the importance of hiring individuals who not only possess technical expertise but are also committed to continuous professional growth.

The participating organizations also provided an overview of their core business processes and product portfolios, while extending an invitation to students. This invitation encouraged active engagement through either employment opportunities after graduation or practical training programs integrated into academic studies.

Mag. Čretnik, director of the higher vocational school, delivered a keynote presentation on the LCAMP project, highlighting its potential to create meaningful synergies between companies and educational institutions. He detailed benefits such as enhanced staff training initiatives and the collaborative development of advanced technology learning centers. Additionally, he elaborated on the activities of Work Package 6 (WP6), showcasing the virtual design of a robotic cart within a simulated digital factory environment (digital twin).

Following the formal presentations, participants were invited on a guided tour of the TŠC Maribor educational facilities. This tour included demonstrations of newly acquired state-of-the-art equipment already embedded into the teaching process, bridging theoretical discussions with practical applications.

The event not only underscored the evolving landscape of Industry 4.0 within Slovenia but also strengthened the bridge between academia and industry, fostering opportunities for innovation and workforce development.
