EU Vocational Excellence Forum 2023

Another year, another successful EU Vocational Excellence Forum brought together VET passionate to the Netherlands. The innovation of VET has moved forward thanks to the European Commission initiative the “Centers of Vocational Excellence”.

On 25-27 September 2023, the Centers of Vocational Excellence (CoVES) representatives gathered at a new edition of the EU Vocational Excellence Forum 2023 in Amsterdam (The Netherlands). This was a special edition that was held in the context of the European Year of Skills. The Forum gathered trainers and the VET community passionate about catalyst VET innovation. LCAMP project coordinators TKNIKA, participated and ran a workshop on Industry 5.0, showing the signs of progress of our project and connecting with other CoVES. 

The two-day forum was opened by the European Commissioner in charge of Jobs and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit. The Commissioner stressed in his speech the crucial role that Vocational Education and Training (VET) plays for young people to find jobs that they are passionate about and supporting companies to find creative and innovative employees of tomorrow. LCAMP is working on this line of action and shortly a Platform for knowledge exchange in the Advanced Manufacturing sector will be present.

Following the words of the Commissioner, the EU Vocational Excellence was shown playing the videos of some of the 13 CoVEs projects. LCAMP was selected among them as one of the projects that are working to foster excellence in vocational education in the advanced manufacturing sector.

The 13 Centers of Vocational Exellence (CoVES) are creating learning ecosystems, working on the skills of the future and setting up the way towards a real European Vocational Excellence. Every year they meet to exchange, inspire and learn from each other in the Forum of Excellence. A community of VET innovation and excellence of which LCAMP Center of Excellence is proud member of!  

An interactive workshop on Industry 5.0

Unai Ziarsolo, International Project Manager at TKNIKA, Basque Country, and Scientific Coordinator of LCAMP, presented the LCAMP project at the “Industry 5.0 offering more sustainable working futures for VET students” workshop. The workshop included presentations from the EU-funded projects BRIDGES 5.0 and ALLVIEW. 

Mr. Laura Roman, from the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, opened the session with an introduction to the industry 5.0 paradigm on behalf of the European Commission. 

 The workshop was an opportunity to learn about: 

  • Industry 5.0 is a new paradigm for a sustainable, human-centric, and resilient industry in Europe.
  • Different training approaches aligned to the new paradigm, such as the LCAMP Collaborative Learning Factory

The workshops showed the impact that the Centres of Vocational Excellence are already having at the regional level on the twin transition, but also on the social dimension.

Stay tuned: the next EU Vocational Excellence Forum will take place in France in 2024.
